My 69 Camaro.....IllUSION

FINISHED!!
Exhaust Page
I was determined for several years to run my exhaust side by side out the center of my car like a Viper or like a Lamborghini Murcielago. After a lot of thinking and some mock up designs I decided to do it like the Murcielago.
The main problem was the location of the gas tank. It is right in the way. The cure for this problem was a fuel cell in the trunk.
The next problem is the location of the license plate. It is also right in the way.  My idea was to split the rear bumper in two and move the license plate up.

Exhaust specs.
Headers to 2 1/2" pipe into Flowmaster 40series mufflers.  Over the axle the pipe is 3".
The exhaust exits the car thru 3" chrome tips side by side.

6th Stage Finally Finished!
Smoothed out the rear bumpers and the rear of the car. Then I sprayed 3 coats of epoxy primer.
5th Stage
Here are some pics of the car back on the ground with the rear split bumpers set into place. All the chrome has been removed from the rear bumpers. Now I need to make 3 more bumper brackets and prep the bumpers for primer. The front and rear bumpers will be painted to match the car.
4th Stage
This stage involved welding in the Frenched box from Street Works. I am very impressed with the quality of their product.  I was extremely happy with the results. The LED lights really make everything stand out!! The SS emblem was moved up 1/2" from its original location. It will eventually be replaced with a RS/SS emblem that I will probably design myself and have laser cut.

3rd Stage.
This stage involved welding on the home made pieces to match the body as close as possible. Then I trimmed the exhaust tunnel where the tail pipes go.
The 4th stage will be the location of the license plate and the mounting hardware to bolt it on. (coming soon)

2nd Stage (making pieces).
I also had to make these pieces by hand with a hammer.  I tried to match the shape of the body as close as possible.  The tunnel piece only took about 8 minutes and was very easy.

First stage (mock up).
This was a very ugly process but thats what mock ups are all about. As you can see I split the rear bumper into 2 pieces. I also moved the license plate up about 5-6 inches to make room for the tail pipes. The pics below are only mock up pics.
